James Allan is responsible for Barclays’ transactional FX business which delivers FX payments and risk management solutions to corporate clients in the UK and internationally. Prior to this, James led the firm’s cash management franchise in the UK and, since joining in 2000, has worked in Barclays Investment Bank and BGI.
James is well known in the payments and broader transaction banking industry and was recognised in the 2016 ‘Payments Power 10’ list of contributors to innovation in global payments. An early adopter of technology, James is a strong proponent of digital, leading on the firm’s initiative to bring digital enablement to clients and colleagues across the organisation.
A passionate advocate of diversity, James was Co-Chair for Barclays’ LGBT Employee Network Spectrum for 3 years. At the end of 2017, he took up the role of Spectrum Executive Sponsor and continues to plays a key role in driving forward our focus on inclusion with clients, and in the broader community. James featured in the OUTStanding Top 50 LGBT Future Leaders List published in the FT and in 2017, was a finalist in the Barclays Diversity Awards.
James has an Executive MBA (Distinction) from Cass Business School, City University and BA (Hons), Modern Languages from the University of Bristol.
